Grunau Baby IIb
A new project... follow the building of my 1/5.5 scale (2.5 mtrs) Grunau Baby IIb.
A short kit will be available soon for this model before releasing a 1/3 scale version of the Grunau IIb (4.52 mtrs of pure happiness ! )
But before that, let's have some fun gluing some wood !
Documentation :
3 Views and some scale details of the full size :
Fuselage :
The fuselage is articulated around a "box" made with 3mm plywood. from this box, the rear part of the fuselage is then made.
The first step is to cut all the plywood parts :
The front "box" start to take shape :
For the wing, I did not retained the full size system. Too heavy for the scale of this glider... That will be for the 1/3 scale one !.. The wing profile is a Clark Y with 15% thickness and 3.75 of camber. Look like the real one, but much more easier to build !
The rear skeleton is articulated with 4 8x8 balsa strips and 2.5mm balsa formers. Really easy and simple to assemble.
You can then start the sheeting of the fuselage using 1.5mm balsa. The fuselage include the fixed part of the rudder as well, sheeted with 2mm balsa. You have now a big boat ! :o)
